Become a Volunteer Firefighter
The Rio Dell Fire Protection District is proud to be a volunteer-based organization, and our strength comes directly from the commitment and dedication of the men and women who serve our community. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference, becoming a volunteer firefighter is one of the most rewarding ways to give back.
Our District is made up of several companies serving Rio Dell and surrounding communities, and each plays an important role in emergency response. As a volunteer firefighter, you will be part of a team that responds to a wide range of calls, including structure fires, wildland fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and rescue situations.
Training and Experience
No prior experience is required to get started. Volunteers receive comprehensive training, including:
- Fire suppression techniques
- Emergency medical response
- Wildland firefighting
- Equipment operation
- Team coordination and safety procedures
Training is ongoing, allowing members to build skills, gain certifications, and grow within the department.
What It Takes
Volunteer firefighters come from all walks of life, but they share a few important qualities:
- A desire to serve the community
- Willingness to learn and train
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to being there when needed
Whether you’re able to respond regularly or support in other ways, there is a place for you.
Make a Difference
When you join one of our fire companies, you’re not just becoming a firefighter—you’re becoming part of a close-knit team dedicated to protecting lives, property, and the community we call home.
